Braveheart In Defiance Of The English Tyranny!

Just listen to the speech and HEAR what he says. It is inspirational. It gives me chills every time I hear it.

Wallace: Sons of Scotland, I am William Wallace.

Young soldier: William Wallace is 7 feet tall.

Wallace: Yes, I've heard. Kills men by the hundreds, and if he were here he'd consume the English with fireballs from his eyes and bolts of lightning from his arse. I AM William Wallace. And I see a whole army of my countrymen here in defiance of tyranny. You have come to fight as free men, and free men you are. What would you do without freedom? Will you fight?

Veteran soldier: Fight? Against that? No, we will run; and we will live.

Wallace: Aye, fight and you may die. Run and you'll live -- at least a while. And dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take our freedom!!!

Wallace and Soldiers: Alba gu bra! (Scotland forever!)

"Heartbreak Ridge" - Waking up the platoon

This is the kind of men we need running the military right now. Can you imagine this happening in today's Marine Corps if Barack HUSSEIN Obama is elected POTUS?

Paul Newman, Legend, Dead at 83

Paul Newman, the legendary actor whose film career spanned more than 50 years, died Saturday. He was 83.

The star of such films as “The Hustler,” “Cool Hand Luke,” “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” and “The Color of Money,” Newman also earned widespread acclaim as an entrepreneur and the founder and co-owner of Newman/Haas Racing.
Newman reportedly had been diagnosed with lung cancer in June 2008, just over 13 months after he announced his retirement from acting.

Aside from “The Hustler” and “The Color of Money,” for which he won an Academy Award as Best Actor, Newman appeared in other sports movies, including a portrayal of former middleweight boxing champion Rocky Graziano in “Somebody Up The Likes Me.”
Among his more memorable roles among sports buffs was that of hockey player-coach Reg Dunbar in the rollicking comedy “Slap Shot,” which details a minor league hockey team which turns to violence to keep the bedraggled franchise afloat.

Newman’s own interest in auto racing was sparked during his acting career - he became involved in the sport while filming the 1969 film “Winning.”

Three years later, Newman competed in his first event at Thompson Speedway in northeastern Connecticut.

In 1982, Newman and Carl A. Haas formed Newman/Haas Racing, which competed in the CART/Champ Car World Series (CCWS) from 1983-2007.
Last year, the team name was revised to Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing (NHLR) to include new partner Mike Lanigan. The 2008 season marked the team’s first in the IndyCar Series, as the former Champ Car series joined Indy Racing league.

“On behalf of Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing, my wife Bernadette and myself, I want to express our most sincere condolences to Joanne and the entire Newman family on the loss of a great human being,” Haas said in a statement Saturday. “Paul and I have been partners for 26 years and I have come to know his passion, humor and above all, his generosity. Not just economic generosity, but generosity of spirit. His support of the team’s drivers, crew and the racing industry is legendary.
“His pure joy at winning a pole position or winning a race exemplified the spirit he brought to his life and to all those that knew him. We will truly miss him.”
Newman’s team amassed 107 victories and won 107 pole positions while capturing series championships eight times, including four consecutive from 2004-07.

“On behalf of my mother Mari Human George and the entire Hulman-George family at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and IndyCar Series, our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and loved ones of Paul Newman,” said Tony George, the chief executive officer of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the founder and CEO of IRL.

“To all his fans worldwide and those close to him in our racing community, we share a deep sense of loss, but cherish the many fond memories we will forever carry with us.”

The actor also leaves a lasting legacy through the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp which he co-founded in 1988. The residential camp for serious ill children was named after Newman’s gang in “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.”

Newman donated the proceeds from a chain of food products he founded, “Newman’s Own,” to both the camp and a number of other charities.

“We truly lost a great man,” Lanigan said. “Most of us knew him as Butch or Fast Eddie from the theater or from our living rooms at home. He was much more than a great actor. His legacy will be his five children, his wife, Joanne and all the sick children around the world who desperately needed his help.

“Paul was a man of character who cared about the world and the people who lived in it. Putting a smile on a young person’s face and helping people in need was a virtue he excelled at. Little did anyone realize a child born of such humble beginnings could affect our lives in so many positive ways. We should all learn to live by his example. We will miss him dearly but will never forget him.”

Tony Stewart, a two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup series champion and former IndyCar series champ, said Newman’s outstanding charitable work should not get overshadowed by his immense on-screen persona.

“Paul Newman was a phenomenal individual who made a profound impact throughout his life,” Stewart said. “His acting skills are well-known, but equally impressive was his desire to give back and help those who just didn’t get the same shake out of life that we did.

“He set the bar, not only with his giving, but in how he gave. Whether it was through his own line of food products - Newman’s Own - or his work in helping create the Hole in the Wall Camps, Paul did it right, and he did it with class. He’ll be terribly missed.”

"If you're playing a poker game and you look around the table and and can't tell who the sucker is, it's you." - Paul Newman

UN Chief Call For "Global Leadership"

UN chief Ban Ki-moon of South Korea stated on Tuesday the need for "global leadership" as he pressed world leaders not to pursue narrow national interests in the face of hard economic times.

"I see a danger of nations looking more inward, rather than toward a shared future," he said at the opening of the UN General Assembly's annual debate.
He spoke of a "challenge of global leadership" to tackle the world's worsening financial, energy and food crises.

Ban told more than 120 heads of state or government, including Presidents George W. Bush of the United States and Nicolas Sarkozy of France.

"We see new centers of power and leadership -- in Asia, Latin America and across the newly developed world."

I do not have problem with this as long as WE (the USA) has the leadership. When I say leadership, I mean the CONSERVATIVE LEADERSHIP. I do not what Barack HUSSEIN Obama telling us and the rest of the world how it needs to be.

The best way to kill the UN is to stay in and use our veto power while simultaneously setting up a parallel organization, for democracies, to replace it.

Without our veto power, the United Nations Security Council could vote to attack us to try to install a global leadership. As it stands now we can maintain our sovereignty.

Getting the United States out of the UN is a good idea but it has to be done the right way.

Yankee Stadium: Thanks for the Memories

This evening, the final baseball game was played in Yankee Stadium. I found the video below about fans entering the stadium. I wish My Lovely Bride and I could have been there.

Enjoy!

The Death of an Icon

Tomorrow, the New York Yankees play the Baltimore Orioles at Yankee Stadium. The game means nothing in the standings as the Yankees and the Orioles are not going to make the playoffs this year.

However the game DOES mean something in the hearts of any sports fan. The game will be the final game played at "The House That Ruth Built." It will be demolished later this year and the Yankees move into the NEW Yankee Stadium next year.

My Lovely Bride and I will be watching the game on ESPN tomorrow night. We had the opportunity to attend a game in Yankee Stadium this past summer and it made both of us Yankees fans. We are still Astros fans but the Yankees are "our" team in the American league.

I will post more thoughts on this later. Needless to say, it will be a sad day tomorrow for all sports fans, Yankees fans (both old and young) and all true Americans.

Things Are Getting Back To Normal After Hurricane Ike

Things are getting back to normal. We are cleaning around the house and resting fro the busy week. It is amazing how the neighborhood came together this week. I am proud of everyone.

We talked to neighbors we had not talked to in months (or years). It was very gratifying to see everyone pitching in to help each other.

I will post some further thoughts (and photos) about the hurricane. I think people can learn from any situation. I know I learned much about myself and other during this trying time.

"Miracle" USSR Pre-Game Speech

"Miracle " starring Kurt Russell was a great hockey movie. I remember watching the game between the USA and Russia in the 1980 Winter Olympics. I thought there was no way the USA could win. Well, there went my prediction.

The speech given by Russell, who portrayed Herb Brooks was amazing. It really got my hair standing up.

Thank God for sports and the inspiration that they bring. I do not know if Brooks spoke the exact words that Russell used, but I like to think he did.

This movie is a "must see" for all sports fans and all motivation seekers out there.

"Great moments... are born from great opportunity. And that's what you have here, tonight, boys. That's what you've earned here tonight. One game. If we played 'em ten times, they might win nine. But not this game. Not tonight. Tonight, we skate with them. Tonight, we stay with them. And we shut them down because we can! Tonight, WE are the greatest hockey team in the world. You were born to be hockey players. Every one of you. And you were meant to be here tonight. This is your time. Their time is done. It's over. I'm sick and tired of hearing about what a great hockey team the Soviets have. Screw 'em. This is your time. Now go out there and take it." - Kurt Russell playing Herb Brooks in "Miracle."

Hurricane Ike-Update #12

OUR POWER CAME ON AND STAYED ON ALL DAY!!!

Things are getting back to normal. We contacted our insurance earlier this week and they said they would come our as soon as possible. One of our vehicles' battery died and I will go to get another tomorrow. Some stores are opening up and things are getting back to normal.

We got an e mail stating school will most likely start late next week. They are trying to get all the schools up and running. From reports, about 50% of the Gulf Coast are is still without power.

We are very lucky. Well, I need to get some sleep. Many things to get done around the house tomorrow.

Hurricane Ike-Update #11

(Posting via battery power on the computer. The Internet is working)

Power came on today (for about 3 hours), then we lost it again. I drove to Hempsted, Texas to get gas, as the lines anywhere in the Houston area are a 2-3 hour wait to get gas, if it lasts.

The water is now on and so it the gas (natural). We were able to take a hot shower for the first time today. My Lovely Bride cooked up all the meat in the freezer today and we had friends, neighbors, and anyone else in the neighborhood over to eat. "Share the wealth," we always say.

Cleanup is going very slow and we finally have gotten most of the neighborhood cleaned up. School is on hold until further notice and I think we will not go back to work until next week, if even then.

Hurricane Ike-Update #10

(Posting via battery power on the computer. The Internet is working)

We spent most of today cleaning up around the house and assessing the damage. Our neighbor was correct on our damage. We were glad we got ice, gas, and water. We are sharing with our neighbors. I am running the generator 24-7 and sharing the power with the neighbors.

There is no electricity, gas or water. We are under a "boil all water" order for the city. We are glad we brought 6 cases of water with us. We have given away most of the ice and water and are getting by pretty well. Our neighbors offered to pay for the ice and water and we refused. After all, what are neighbors for.

Not much else is going on. We are running the refrigerator and freezer, as to save as much food as we can, a portable black and white television to keep up with the news, a fan and one pole light. We do not want to use too much power as it may have to last a long time. The reports say we may not have power for two weeks.

Oh well, life goes on. After all, this experience will be the basis for many blog posts for the future.

Hurricane Ike-Update #9

(Posting via battery power on the computer. The Internet is working)

My Lovely Bride and I spent most of of yesterday looking for supplies for our return to the Gulf Coast. Our neighbor called and said we had some roof damage, fences blown down, damage to our house's gables, trees and bushes knocked down and blown over. There is no power, water or gas (natural) in the area.

We found a generator at about midnight and bought a new 60 gallon ice chest to bring back ice for the neighborhood. We also loaded up on gas for the generator, bought some water and food for us and our neighbors.

We are going to get a few hours sleep before we head back. Things are going to be hairy for a while but I know we can get through it.

Hurricane Ike-Update #8

We are in Austin and are keeping updated on Hurricane Ike via "The Weather Channel." It looks like Ike is going to hit with all its force early this morning. I hope everyone has left the area or is hunkered down for the storm. PLEASE STAY SAFE!!!

Hurricane Ike-Update #7

Ike is coming and we are getting out of here. The house is boarded up and we are headed for Austin. I will post more as I get time.

Hurricane Ike-Update #6

Hurricane Ike is headed for the Houston area. It is coming. Houston and surrounding areas are going to get hit. There is nothing that can stop it.

Texas Truth's house is boarded up and we are ready to go.

My Lovely Bride went through
Hurricane Carla in 1961 and Hurricane Alicia in 1983. I have been through a few minor storms: Allison-2001 and Rita in 2005, but nothing like Ike.

Luckily, we saved our window boards from Rita and had them stored on the back porch. We boarded the windows and got the yard picked up in about 30 minutes. It sure is nice when things come together and prior planning pays off.

We have a hotel waiting in Austin, as we had a previous engagement scheduled for this weekend, and even though the event has been cancelled, we still have the room.

We are going to decide whether we will take off Friday morning (before 5:00am). Most of our neighbors are staying put and said they will keep us posted (via cell phone and text messages) as to the situation in out part of Texas.

I have been glued to the television and the Internet all day long. Our school district decided to have school today, and attendance was about 85% when the day started. As the day progressed, we had students signing out of school in droves. By the last period of the day, my class had only 50% of the students left.

My Lovely Bride and I are keeping a positive attitude and have taken the approach that if our house floods, we loose the roof, we receive storm damage, or anything else that we cannot fathom occurs, well, that is what why we have insurance.

In either case (stay or leave), I will continue to post as long as the power stays on and the Internet signal stays strong.

For now, take care and if you are in the storm's path: BE CARE AND SAFE!!!

"My message to Texans is, in the projected impact area, finish your preparations because this is a storm that can have extraordinary impact on them, on their personal belongings. It's on its way." - Texas Governor Rick "Zoolander" Perry.

Hurricane Ike-Update #4

The latest track of Hurricane Ike has it path still heading for Texas, but with a path for the middle Texas coast. We are preparing for the hit and will head for Austin long before it arrives.

I will keep everyone posted as the week goes on.

"It is still too early to be evacuating certainly, but it is not too early to be making sure you've got food and water and batteries. It's not too early to be checking your car." - Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal

A James Bond 007 Montage

This video clip is a montage (frame by frame) of he first 21 James Bond films films. This is an outstanding video. Very well done. The accompanying music was probably the best Bond theme as well. I need to get a Best of Bond soundtrack and I play this theme over and over again. It's would be very inspiring as we (My Lovely Bride and I) drive on our many trips.

"This never happened to the other fella!" James Bond, as played by George Lazenby in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service."

Hurricane Ike-Update #3

It looks like Ike is headed straight for Houston. The 2am prediction has it zeroing in on the upper Texas coast.

I am planning that the suits will cancel school on Thursday and Friday (or as early as Wednesday) to give people a chance to evacuate.

Can't we ever catch a break?

More on Hurricane Ike-Update #2

At 5:00pm eastern daylight time (4:00pm in Texas) the National Hurricane Center released a revised track for Hurricane Ike.
Its five day projected path has it headed into the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday afternoon and its continued path as heading for the middle Texas coast.

These are just predictions, but I am going to be very aware of where this storm is headed.

If it stays on its current projected path, southeast Texas is going to get the brunt of the storm.

My Lovely Bride and I will not be waiting around for this thing to hit. For us, it will be "Get the Hell our of Dodge as fast as we can."

"Fasten your seat belts. It's going to be a bumpy night." - Margo Channing as played by Bette Davis in the movie "All About Eve."

Hurricane Ike Heads for the Gulf of Mexico

Here we go again. Hurricane Ike is headed into the Gulf of Mexico and is currently listed as a Category 4 storm.

I guess I better get ready for another possible storm. Just another day in the life of living in Texas.

View the Ike Tracker on "The Weather Channel" here.

"Ike is now an extremely dangerous Category 4 hurricane on the (level one to five) Saffir-Simpson scale." - National Hurricane Center spokesman

USA Flags Rescued By McCain Supporters

Mini-USA flags that were found in trash bags at the Democratic Convention in Denver were rescued by John SIDNEY McCain supporters and distributed to McCain supporters in Colorado Springs, Colorado today.

The picture of the flags in the bags (as they were found) is posted at the left.

The democrats are trying to spin this atrocity as "the flags were taken." In my mind, it does not matter. The flag of our country deserves better treatment than this, regardless of the size.

Actions sure does speak louder than words, especially in this incident. The same flags are shown below being proudly waved at the McCain rally in Colorado (as previously stated).

"We want to find good homes for these flags." 630 KHOW radio host Dan Caplis, in a statement at the McCain-Palin rally in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The 10 Hottest Bond Girls: Number 7

Number 7 on my list of the The Hottest Bond Girls is again from the Pierce Brosnan era of James Bond. The movie was from 1999. It was again one in the bottom 50% of James Bond films, but this actress just oozed sexuality along with having a great name.

Number 7 on my list is:

Denise Richards as Dr. Christmas Jones in "The World Is Not Enough."

Richards put a new twist in the role as a Bond Girl. She was a bit too young-looking (28 years old), too glamorous and didn't present herself as serious minded enough to make us believe that she was a nerdy, anal-retentive, yet underneath it all, beautiful scientist-type. But in the reality of things, who gives a crap?

I like how they hinted at a past when Bond asked her what she was doing in Kazakhstan, and she replied, "Avoiding those kinds of question." But really, the writers should have better explored her relationship with Bond.

In closing, she had a great body and another perfect name for a Bond Girl. Add that to the fact that I loved her in "Wild Things," along with Neve Campbell, and she makes my top 10 list regardless of what anyone else thinks.

PS: Charlie Sheen is a giant mook for letting her get away. He has been named on my list of "Famous (or Infamous) Mooks" for a while. His decision to divorce her makes him a "Super Mook."

James Bond: [in bed with Jones] I was wrong about you.
Dr. Christmas Jones: Yeah, how so?
James Bond: I thought Christmas only comes once a year.

More Diana Rigg as Emma Peel

I found this clip on YouTube. It is titled "Emma Peel - I'm Too Sexy - Diana Rigg." I have to agree. She is the sexiest woman of my youth. I loved her in her "Emma Peelers."

This is a great collection of short clips of Diana Rigg as Emma Peel. There are two very good parts that I absolutely LOVE.

At :24, she walks away from the camera in a black bra, however you can see reflection in the mirror. For a teen boy of the 60s ..that was PURE HOT!!!

The other is at 2:48 when she puts her hands in her harem pants and pulls them up over her butt. That is another WOW moment.

I have said it many times before. Diana Rigg as Emma Peel was one of the sexiest, if not THE sexiest women in the history of television. She did get me, and a large number of others, through puberty.

The only two women who could even be considered in the same league was Barbara Eden as "Jeannie" and Julie Newmar at "Catwoman." They come close, but "close" only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

Emma Peel: I suppose Mother warned you about women like me?
John Steed: Until now, I didn't know there were women like you.

Sarah Palin Vice Presidential Acceptance Speech-Part 2

Here is part 2 of Sarah Palin's acceptance speech as John SIDNEY McCain's Vice Presidential running mate.

"A ship in harbor is safe but that's not why the ship is built." - Sarah Palin

Poll on Bristol Palin's Pregnancy

I have posted a poll concerning the pregnancy of Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol.

I hope this will give everyone a chance to leave their views and will enable me to gauge everyone's opinions on the matter.

Sarah Palin says her unmarried teenage daughter is pregnant. What's your reaction?

Please post your chocie as a comment in the comments section.

A. It's a gift from God, who works in mysterious ways.

B. It's an opportunity to teach young people about taking responsibility for your actions.

C. It's more fallout from John McCain's decision to pick Palin.

D. It's another sign of family-values hypocrisy.

E. It's a non-story. Leave the poor girl alone!

F. Your opinion if it differs from the above choices, pick this chocie and tell me why.

Information on Bristol Palin's Baby's Daddy

I have done some research this evening and came up with the following information. To the left is a photo of, who is believed to be, Bristol Palin's baby's daddy.

His name is Levi Johnston and he is an 18-year-old. He and Bristol have been dating for approximately one year. Evidently, many people in their hometown of Wasilla, Alaska knew of the pregnancy.

He was a hockey player and had a small run-in with this law last year.

Alaska state troopers popped Johnston last year for snagging some King salmon out of season in Moose Lake, records from Alaska wildlife enforcement show. He had to pay $370 bail.

I will post more about this as it becomes available.

I still think some will have a negative veiw of this and as a result, will not vote for McCain. I do hope I am wrong, but I know how people think.

"I'm sorry to hear this, but I have every confidence they can handle this. Just like children should not pay for the sins of the parents, the parents should not pay for the transgressions of the children." - Mark Okeson, assistant principal at Wasilla High School

Palin's Daughter is Pregnant!

John McCain's vice-presidential running mate Sarah Palin said today that her 17-year-old unmarried daughter is five months pregnant, an announcement aimed at rebutting Internet rumors that Palin's youngest son, born in April, was actually her daughter's.

This entire election is turning into a nightmare. Barack HUSSEIN Obama can do drugs as a youth, lie about his experience, hang out and cavort with known criminals and radicals and he gets a pass from the media and many others out there.

The teen aged daughter of the conservative VP candidate gets pregnant and the accusations fly, the lynch mobs gather, and the liberal, anti-American wackos clear their schedules for a prolonged assault on the mother and the mother-to-be.

The children of the candidates should be off-limits. Bill Clinton made that clear during his White House run and amazingly, the press completed.

Why does the same standard not apply for Republicans?

Palin's daughter's indiscretion should not matter, but it WILL and it DOES. Many will jump on the bandwagon to condemn her for her daughter's action. The Dems will use this to the fullest extent, even if Barack HUSSEIN Obama states she should be off limits.

You KNOW he and his advisers are looking for ways to exploit this.

All of this just reinforces a thought that has been taking roots in my mind for some time. Some will be critical when I make this statement, however the more I teach and the more I live, the more it makes sense to me.

The majority of the youth of today have very little direction, very little commitment to family values and are mainly involved in their own lives. They could care less how their actions will effect others and are only living for the moment. They are very unaware of the real world and could not care less how their actions have results on others for many years to come.

I cannot believe that the daughter of a sitting Governor, who is on the political rise, did not think that her actions would and could hurt her mother (and family). I do not know how she was raised, I do not know whom she hung out with. I do not know what did when when she alone? (Correction: I do know what she was doing on at least one occasion).

The bottom line is that the teenagers indiscretion WILL effect her life and the life of the baby's father. It will also affect the lives of her family members. Most of all, it will affect the live of a young baby and least of all it will affect the outcome of a Presidential election.

I know that sounds very dismal, but it is what I think. Her pregnancy should not matter, but it does and it will.

I still think McCain and Palin will defeat Barach HUSSEIN Obama and his liberal VP running mate.

I may be wrong. After all, I was preparing for Hurricane Gustav hitting the Texas gulf coast and I was wrong. I guess anything can happen.

"(the pregnancy) has no relevance to Governor Palin’s performance as a governor or her potential performance as a vice president. My mother had me when she was 18. How a family deals with issues and teen-age children — that shouldn’t be the topic of our politics." - Barack HUSSEIN Obama

Sarah Palin Vice Presidential Acceptance Speech-Part 1

Here is the first part of of John SIDNEY McCain announcing Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his Vice Presidential running mate.

I think he made a great choice. Barach HUSSEIN Obama must be crapping in his pants for not selecting Hillary RODHAM Clinton as his VP.

I think this selection will seal the deal for McCain. At last, Barack HUSSEIN Obama will only by a minor annoyance.

"People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do." - Isaac Asimov
