Last Game At Yankee Stadium (Final Inning)

Here is a video, shot from the stands at Yankee Stadium of the final inning of the last game at the stadium. I wish My Lovely Bride and I could have been there.

We became Yankee fans this summer. Well, better late than never.

Yankee Stadium: Thanks for the Memories

This evening, the final baseball game was played in Yankee Stadium. I found the video below about fans entering the stadium. I wish My Lovely Bride and I could have been there.

Enjoy!

"So take the memories from this stadium, add it to the new memories that come with the new Yankee Stadium and continue to pass them on from generation to generation." -Derek Jeter, as he addressed the 54,610 fans who came to say so long to Yankee Stadium.

The Death of an Icon

Tomorrow, the New York Yankees play the Baltimore Orioles at Yankee Stadium. The game means nothing in the standings as the Yankees and the Orioles are not going to make the playoffs this year.

However the game DOES mean something in the hearts of any sports fan. The game will be the final game played at "The House That Ruth Built." It will be demolished later this year and the Yankees move into the NEW Yankee Stadium next year.

My Lovely Bride and I will be watching the game on ESPN tomorrow night. We had the opportunity to attend a game in Yankee Stadium this past summer and it made both of us Yankees fans. We are still Astros fans but the Yankees are "our" team in the American league.

I will post more thoughts on this later. Needless to say, it will be a sad day tomorrow for all sports fans, Yankees fans (both old and young) and all true Americans.
"To play 18 years in Yankee Stadium is the best thing that could ever happen to a ballplayer." - Mickey Mantle
