T.S. Hermine To Hit South Of Texas-Mexico Border

Tropical Storm Hermine is strengthening and headed toward the northwestern Gulf coast on Monday.

She will probably make landfall around midnight just south of the U.S.-Mexico border.

It looks like the Houston region will not get a direct hit, but we are going to get some major rain in the 24-36 hours.

Southeast Texas will see some rain from the outer bands of Hermine, and the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for the greater Houston area.

Widespread totals of 1 to 3 inches of rain are likely, with up to 8 inches in isolated areas.

There is a small chance of tornadoes along and just inland from the Gulf, and tides along the upper coast will be 2 to 2.5 feet above normal, peaking tonight or early tomorrow.

In any case, we will be HIGH but certainly NOT DRY!!!

Obamamania and the Houston Mayoral Race

Today My Lovely Bride and I were driving around Houston, seeing the sites. We were stopped at a light at the corner of Alabama and Travis and I spied the following painted on the side of a building.

To the right of the previous sign was this:

Below shows how the were together on the same external wall of the building.

We made the block to see what the building was. It turned out to be a campaign headquarters for Gene Locke for Mayor. He is running for mayor of Houston. The thing that caught my eye was the the signs did not have the weather beaten look of signs that had been up since before the election. In fact, they looked almost new.

I wondered about how Obamamania has overtaken the country and people using him and his image for every imaginable thing. As I have stated numerous times in the past, Barack HUSSEIN Obama (aka Little Barry Soetoro, Oprah's Love Child, The Boy Wonder, BO, The Big ZERO, P Bo. The Cult Leader) is a rock star, not a POTUS. Could you imagine if a poster of either President Bush or Ronald Reagan was on the side of a building such as the above photos? They would have been defaced within hours.

People have been caught up in Obamamania since way before the election and it is taking this country right down the toilet and I have not even addressed Tony Hawk skateboarding in down a hall of the White House.

Censorship at the Houston Chronicle

This evening, I was reading a story on the Houston Chronicle website entitled "Race for Houston mayor starts early."

In the comments section a post as made
StaciePVU wrote: "I'm vting(sic) for whoever wins the Democratic nomination. Any Democrat is better than a Republican."

I posted my comment as follows:

"I will be voting for anyone who will not be a lackey of Barack HUSSEIN Obama (aka Little Barry Soetoro, The Boy Wonder, Oprah's Love Child and BO), will order HPD to arrest on sight any criminal alien, instruct HPD to shoot any criminals fleeing from the scene of a crime, and will force Drayton McLain to hire some quality baseball players."

PS: Drayton McLain is the owner of the Houston Astros.

My post was up for about 5 minutes and I had receive one "thumbs up" and five "thumbs down." I switched over to another article to read a post and came back in about one minute to see how the comment was being received and rated.

To my amazement, the comment had been deleted and all references to it purged from the website.

I half expected to have this comment removed, but not so quickly. I have been removed from their board previously under various other user names. I will have to be very careful not to offend any of the censors at the Chronicle.

I understand that this is THEIR site and they can delete any material that they choose, but that is censorship, pure and simple. I guess the forecast is correct that supporters of Barack HUSSEIN Obama (aka Little Barry Soetoro, The Boy Wonder, Oprah's Love Child and BO) will go to any length to protect him, including the mainstream media

I remember when Houston had two newspapers. I faithfully read the
Houston Post for years before it shut down publication on April 18, 1995. Since then we have had to deal with the "Houston Barnicle" for printed news out of Houston.

I post on the Houston Chronicle boards as "texasquestion."

No Beards for HPD Officers = $150,000

Appearance is worth everything - or at least $150,000 - to the Houston police.

City officials say that's how much they're willing to spend to defend against a lawsuit challenging the department's ban on beards.

Four officers filed a federal lawsuit after the department passed the rule, calling it discriminatory against people who develop skin irritation from shaving.

here.

Hey, officers, if you don't want to follow the rules of the job, GET ANOTHER JOB!

It is as simple as that.

Rin Tin Tin Lives On In Texas

I was watching The History Channel "Lost and Found" recently and they had on a story about Rin Tin Tin.

The bloodline continues to this day from the original Rin Tin Tin. People can adopt a direct descendant of the original Rin Tin Rin from the Rin Tin Tin Corporation in Crockett, Texas (outside of Houston).

It is amazing as to what one can find on television and the Internet.

Barack Obama and Che Guevara

Over at Little Green Footballs, there is a post about Barack Obama's campaign office in Houston. Posted are photos and videos of the office with a Cuban flag and a picture of Che Guevara on it. It is hanging in two different places in the office.

Click here to see the photos and the post.

Over at Lone Star Times, there is more extensive information about this.

I wonder what his national campaign office has to say about this? I know this news is one week old, but it is new to me. I guess being ill last week took me more out of the loop than I realized.

Houston Police Chief Refuses To Train Officers To Enforce Immigration Laws

In a story from the Houston Chronicle Houston Police Chief Harold Hurtt made it clear Thursday that his department will be taking on ICE duties any time soon. Hurtt said enforcing immigration law in Houston would tie up officers and add long delays to police response times.

I am amazed of the total disreguard that Hurtt has for the law in allowing criminals to roam the streets of Houston. He states that if his officers enforce immigration laws, it would not allow his officers to enforce local laws.

If HPD enforced immigration laws, local crime WOULD decrease. Criminal aliens DO commit local crimes. If you look at his decision, it is clear, at least to me, what he is doing.

He is promoting a liberal agenda. He is pandering the the Hispanic population. He has only been employed in two other police forces in his career (Phoenix, Arizona and Oxnard, California), both cities of which have predominately Hispnaic populations.

Coud he be looking at a possible political run in the future? It would not surprise me. He stands up for criminal aliens, which in the three cities he has worked are Hispanic, and he gains their votes.

That is a typical liberal viewpoint. I would be willing to bet he supports either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton for President.

Add that to the fact that his family does not even live in Hosuton. They still reside in Phoenix. That fact alone shows his lack of loyality to Houston.

Hurtt stated "officers dont want to enforce immigration." I wonder who was he talking about? I am willing to bet that many HPD officers want to arerst criminal aleins.

This guy needs to enforce all laws or get out of the job.

Hotel Montagu Imploded In Houston

This morning, demolition experts imploded the historic Hotel Montagu in downtown Houston.

I wish I could have been there to see it. I have always wanted to be present to see a building imploded in person.

There should be a web site to keep people posted on such things. You can view the video clip below courtesy of the Houston Chronicle.

Female Murderer Caught In Houston

Houston police caught 18-year-old Lauren Raychelle Kirkman on Tuesday She has been charged for the first-degree murder of cab driver Derick Bernard Byers and she fought with the officers while being arrested.

Below is the clip from the
Houston Chronicle.

Houston woman charged in the fatal shooting of a cabdriver is in police custody, arrested late Tuesday night outside a convenience store, hours after authorities released her name.

Investigators received a tip that Lauren Raychelle Kirkman was at the store in the 9700 block of Beechnut. The 18-year-old is charged with capital murder in the Nov. 13 death of Derick Bernard Byers. Byers, a subcontractor for Yellow Cab Inc., was shot in the back of the head. He died on Friday.

Police on Wednesday said Kirkman was belligerent when officers tried to arrest her about 11:15 p.m. Officers deployed a Taser on Kirkman, who police said was not armed when she was arrested.

Byers had been dispatched to the 6700 block of Sidney in the Third Ward, where he picked up Kirkman.

Kirkman is accused of pulling a pistol and shooting the 39-year-old cab driver She also is accused of pushing him out of his cab at 10441 Westheimer. He was found in the parking lot of a Westheimer bank and was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital.

Investigators later found the taxi abandoned in the 9800 block of Pagewood at the Westchase Forest Townhomes.

It is unusual to have a female thug. However, society is seeing more of these "animals" evolve to terrorize good people. It is the typical action of low-lifes like this to blame others for their problems and lash out any anyone and everyone.

She has been arrested. Now have a trial, convict her, and give her the needle. Soon she will not have to worry about all her troubles. She will be joining Miguel Antonio DeJesus and Diego Ortiz in the hereafter.

I wonder if Quanell X will show up to condemn the killing of Derick Bernard Byers? Probably not!

Potential Voter Fraud Uncovered In Houston

Harris County Tax Assessor Paul Bettencourt has uncovered a plot to steal dozens of votes with a non-existent address.

All the applications were mailed from El Paso and had the address of 2519 Dashwood Drive, which does not exist.

"We know because all the handwriting is the same," Bettencourt was quoted in saying.

"This type of fraud is used specifically against people in general elections,"
Bettencourt said. "It's used against people in primaries. It's not specific to any political party."

I can only speculate as to who would instigate such a scheme, but I have some ideas.

This is an classic example of why we need to require a photo id to vote in this country. Some groups will do anything to flood the ballot box with fraudulent votes.

It is no wonder that the liberals are against photo identification to vote. It might cut into their number of votes.

"THEY CAN'T DEPORT ALL OF US"

This past weekend, I was in Houston on business. I was driving down the access road on Highway 45 south, heading towards Galveston.

I had just pulled out of a store, after getting myself a soft drink and I saw an old panel truck sitting in a parking lot outside one of the many flea markets in the area.

Painted on the side, with what I figured was a can of black spray paint, was the phrase "You can't deport all of us."

I just shook my head and drove on to my appointment.

"They" just don't get it. We actually COULD deport them all. The fact is that the government won't allow it to happen.

Next time I will keep a camera in my car to take a photo of such nonsense.

Houston Independent Media Center

I frequently visit the Houston Independent Media Center website to keep track of what the tree hugging, koolade drinking, left wing nut cases are doing.
The site is actually a good place to find out where the liberal wackos are "doing their thing" to give me ammunition for my blog.

Below is a short clip from a posting on their blog about their upcoming meeting. Pay particular interest to the words printed in RED.

This Saturday, from 4 to 6 pm, Houston Indymedia comes together for its monthly general meeting. Come to discuss coverage, film screenings, our radio show, outreach y mas.

This month, we're meeting at the t.e.j.a.s. office on 6733 Harrisburg Blvd (in the East End). Check us out if you're into making independent media as part of a non-commerecial, democratic collective that serves as the local organizing unit of the globall Indymedia network.

Doesn't the words "democratic collective" bring back the memory of the good old Communist party. Makes one wonder what their true leanings are.

City readies "Boot the Mentally Retarded" Revenue Stream

This is typical of a liberal like Houston Mayor Bill White. I bet he was looking as a big paycheck for the city and possible political contributions from the developes he sells the land to.

Read the clip below. If this doesn't "piss you off," then nothing will.

The Houston Chronicle's Melanie Markley reports that the city is proceeding with plans to tear up its lease with a local non-profit group that houses the mentally retarded, so that it can deliver their prime River Oaks real estate to local developers (and enjoy a nice revenue boost):

For more than 40 years, it has occupied a prime chunk of public real estate near River Oaks caring for, employing and housing the mentally retarded.

But now the city of Houston is planning to sell the land to the highest bidder, meaning the nonprofit Center Serving Persons with Mental Retardation has to find a new home.

The center's directors do not intend to go quietly. They have a 99-year lease signed with the city in the 1960s that required them to construct buildings and provide services for one of the city's neediest populations.

The 99-year lease, signed in 1963 by then-Mayor Lewis Cutrer, is not valid, city lawyers argue, because the city charter limits such agreements to no more than 30 years.

Center officials also worry that the move seriously will jeopardize the centrally located services they provide for roughly 600 Houstonians.

Most at risk, they say, are the nearly 200 adults living in a dormitory on the property. The center faces the task of building new living quarters or finding other facilities and homes that can take them.

We're thinking that it's not going to be very helpful to Mayor White's plans to run for statewide office when opposition researchers discover that he was the Houston mayor who booted mentally retarded people out on the street to help out real-estate developers (or, for that matter, that he was the Houston mayor who planned to finance his big freeway towing program partially on the backs of poor people whose cars were towed, confiscated, and sold by favored towing companies).

Here's hoping Mayor White rethinks this one. He can surely find some other ways to generate revenue.

Expense Is Too Great To Recover Body

The following clip is from the Houston Chronicle. The "Power's That Be" say the expense is too great to try to recover the body of Tynesha Stewart, who was murdered by her ex-boyfriend.

This is totally unacceptable, especially in Texas. Texans have the reputation of doing what is right and taking care of business.

But this is not just a Texas issue, it is a "human" issue. The body of Tynesha Stewart needs to be recovered no matter what the cost. Our tax dollars are used for so many other things. Why can't they divert some of the money that is used for the red light cameras to find her body and set her family's mind at ease.

Faced with the "virtually impossible" task of excavating 40,000 tons of landfill waste to find Tynesha Stewart's body, Harris County sheriff's officials made the agonizing decision Thursday night that the odds of success were too remote to try.

Sheriff's officials met with the slain Texas A&M University student's mother, Gale Shields, shortly before a scheduled 7 p.m. candlelight vigil to inform her there would be no search for her daughter's body.

"Oh my God!" a sobbing Shields said later. "It just broke my heart that they could put a dollar amount on my, on a person's life, especially if they probably know where she is. ... And they just want to leave her out there. They just want us to leave her out there in the trash because of a dollar amount. I just can't understand that."

A crowd of about 300 was packed into pews at Abiding Word Lutheran Church when community activist Quanell X took the pulpit, with Shields at his side, and announced officials would not be searching for the body.

Jason Glenn, one of Stewart's two uncles who play football in the NFL, responded with an angry outburst.

"What?" he shouted, then stormed out of the church.

Sheriff's officials say the man charged in the slaying, Stewart's ex-boyfriend Timothy Wayne Shepherd, confessed to investigators Wednesday night that he choked her, stuffed her body in a large plastic storage container and placed her body in a Dumpster in northwest Harris County on March 15. Authorities found no body in that bin, which had been emptied at least twice since.

By day's end, officials with Waste Management and the sheriff's office had estimated that there is a 65 percent chance that Stewart's body is at the Atascocita Recycling and Disposal Facility, 3623 Wilson Road.

There is a smaller chance the body is in a landfill in Clute, which is in southern Brazoria County.

The 504-acre landfill in northeast Harris County receives about 3,500 tons of nonhazardous residential, commercial and industrial waste every day. Although officials have narrowed their search area to a 2- to 3-acre section at the landfill, they said the body could be buried beneath as much as 40,000 tons and 50 feet of refuse.

"It's not 100 percent impossible, but it's very, very very rare to find what you are looking for," said Chuck Rivette, senior district manager for Waste Management, which owns the Atascocita landfill.

He added, "It's virtually impossible."

A case in Utah, John Martin, public information officer with the sheriff's office, said officials researched similar excavations across the country and found only one that was successful: In 2004, the body of a woman was found in a Utah landfill after a 33-day search. Martin noted that the search would have to assume that Stewart had told investigators the truth about where he placed the body.

Martin acknowledged that the issue had become the talk of the town, with many in the community — including Quanell X and radio talk-show host Chris Baker — criticizing the sheriff's office for not immediately committing to the search.

Martin, who said the department truly wants "to return Ms. Stewart to her family," said the office is prepared for backlash.

"Obviously it is just a heart-wrenching decision for everybody involved," he said.

"I don't think anything we could say would adequately console them (the family) at this point. ... We don't expect it to be a popular decision. But we've tried to be as pragmatic as possible."

Equusearch offers help
The excavation, which would have cost at least $350,000 and been paid for by taxpayers, would have required the clearing of another five or six acres adjacent to the suspected search site to allow large equipment in and out and to provide a place to hold the waste that would have been removed. Officials could not estimate how long the search might have taken.
Martin denied that money had anything to do with the department's decision.

"We didn't have the confidence we would be successful," he said.

At the vigil, held at the church where teams led by Texas Equusearch had assembled during a protracted hunt for Stewart earlier in the week, Quanell X called on friends and loved ones to raise money for an excavation.

An Equusearch official vowed the group would do all it could, if given the chance.

"It's an overwhelming task, but somebody's got to do it," said Cindy Wisdom, a case manager. "It's bad enough the daughter was murdered, but it's inhumane to let her body rot in a dump."
