Hillary Wants "Shared Responsibility and Prosperity"

Hillary Clinton has been quoted in the media today that she would like to see the "on your own" society replaced with one based on shared responsibility and prosperity.

"Shared responsibility and prosperity" sure sounds like "Socialism" to me.

Cindy Sheehan Calls It Quits

Cindy Sheehan calls it quits!!!

Well, it is about time. This humble blogger said in previous posts on this forum and in my previous forum (the ORIGINAL Texas Truth Blog) that she would be left out in the cold when the liberal Democrats had no more use for her.

She has not been in the news much lately. In fact, my last post on her was back on December 31.

I haven't posted much on her lately, as she had become too easy a target and other were doing such a good job blogging on her insanity.
However, snuggling up to High Chavez was actually the beginning of the end for her.

Well now she states, will return to her home and try to rebuild her life. The way I look at it, she caused so many of her own problems. She made her bed and now she will have to sleep in it.

Don't be surprised if she turns up at a later time with another "crazy" cause to support. After all, she CRAVED the attention she got! She actually ATE IT UP!

I remember seeing videos and photos of her getting arrested and she was actually smiling. Don't get me wrong, everyone including myself, loves attention. She seemed to love it more than the average person.

She will be back to some degree at a future time. Mark my words....she will be back. Someone who carves attention as much as she does cannot stay away for it for very long.

John Wayne in "Hellfighters" on AMC

Yes I know, some of you are thinking that I have gone crazy doing posts on John Wayne and his movies.

Well, on this Memorial Day weekend, with school out for the summer and the Duke's 100th birthday today, I can't help myself.

He was one of a kind and the kind of man my father was. I always wanted to grow up to be somewhat like them. Some say I did, but I don't see it. Yes, I have some traits of my father and many of the things the Duke stood for I am in line with. However, I just don't think I am the men they were. Some of that is good and some is bad. I will not go into that just now, but rest assure, I wish I could be more like them in some ways.

But, enough with this soliloquy. On with "Hellfighters."

"Hellfighters" is one of my favorite John Wayne movies. Most people don't even rate it as one of his best or favorites.

I just like the movie. Filmed in and around Houston, it shows many locations in the city and surrounding areas.

Things that I do recognize and are authentic are as follows:

  1. The oil fields around Baytown where the initial oil well fire in the movie occurs. I am still trying to locate the exact location when I travel to Houston.

  2. The Channel 2 KPRC television truck at this fire.

  3. The DPS (Department of Public Safety) car that escorts the truck carrying the well head to the fire.

  4. Cactus Pryor playing the doctor when John Wayne was in the hospital. He was in local television news in Austin in the 1970s and his brother Wally Pryor was the voice of the Memorial Stadium at the University of Texas in Austin during the same time. Cactus Pryor also appeared in "The Green Berets."

  5. The Hobby Airport entrance before the parking garage was build in front of the terminal. The entrance between the terminal and garage is still pretty much the same.

  6. The Lomax Oil Building, which I believe was the real Humble Oil Building at the time.

  7. In the pre-movie credits, Red Adair, Boots Hansen, and Coots Matthews are all listed as technical advisors. They are three worked together in Adair's company. Later, Hansen and Matthews branched off and founded Boots & Coots International Well Control.

  8. The Buckman Company Building looks like it is located off Pearce Elevated (Interstate Highway 45) just south of Houston proper or on the Southwest Freeway (US Highway 59) between IH 45 and Loop 610 West.

John Wayne's DEATH Movies

There has always been an intense discussion among fans of how many times John Wayne died in the movies.

Through extensive research and mnay hours of movie viewing, I have come up with the definative list of movies the Duke died in. A brief description of the movie and method of his demise is given.

The Shootist-After winning a seemingly hopeless gunfight with three opponents simultaneously, he is shot in the back by the bartender, played by Charles G. Martin, and is then avenged by Ron Howard's character.

The Cowboys-He is killed by Bruce Dern's character.

The Alamo-Playing Davy Crockett, he is stabbed with a lance, then staggers into the ammunition room with a lit torch and blows it up.

Sands of Iwo Jima-He is killed at the end of the film by a bullet fired by a Japanese sniper.

Wake of the Red Witch-He drowns when the sunken ship he is trying to salvage shifts and drops further into the ocean, carrying him with it.

The Fighting Seabees-He is shot by a sniper as he attempts to dismount from a bulldozer loaded with TNT aimed at a fuel depot.

Reap the Wild Wind-He is trapped inside the wreck of a sunken ship after a fight with a giant squid and drowns.

His character's death is not shown in the following movies:

The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance-His character is dead at the beginning of the film and the story is told in flashback by James Stewart, who is attending his funeral.

The Sea Chase-Lana Turner and Wayne are on a ship when it sinks, but the possibility that the characters survived is left open.

The Deceiver-Ian Keith's character died, but the corpse was played by John Wayne.

Central Airport-John Wayne has a very minor role as the co-pilot of an aircraft that crashes into the ocean.

John Wayne's 100th Birthday

100 years ago this Saturday the man who many, including this humble write, consider the epitome of what an American man should was born.

In the small Iowa town of Winterset, on May 26, 1907 John Wayne was born. Actually Marion Morrison was born.
I grew up watching John Wayne movies. I still do. There was never a bad John Wayne movie, unless you count "The Conquerer" which was made in 1956. It was, in my opinion, not the best, but it had John Wayne in it, so it was OK with me.

As we look at the troubled times we are facing in our great country, I can't help but wonder how we would be if we had more men like John Wayne around at the present time.

You see, I don't think men are like they were 40, 50 or more years ago.

John Wayne was a "man's man." He had values, morals, and a sense of what was right. I remember a "credo" he had in his final movie, "The Shootist."

He told Ron Howard that he lived by a code. That code was as follows:

I won't be wronged.
I won't be insulted
I won't be laid a hand on.
I don't do these things to other people and I expect the same from them.

What more can you say about life. What more can you say about being an American. That credo says it all for me.

As the weekend goes on, Turner Classic Movies is playing many of John Wayne's movies. I can't think of a better way to spend Memorial Day weekend than being at home with my loved ones, thankful that we live in the greatest country to ever exist on earth, and to watch John Wayne on the tube.

It doesn't get much better than that. At least not for a TRUE AMERICAN!!!

Carter Blasts Bush

Jimmy Carter blasted President George W. Bush and his administration as the “worst in history.”

Carter has a great deal of room to talk. He was a one term President who had very little success during his Presidency.

He is just a bitter old man who has nothing better to do than try to keep his name in the public eye.

In fact, the comments came why he was promoting this new audiobook series “Sunday Morning in Plains,” which is a collection of weekly Bible lessons from his hometown of Plains Georgia.

This is from a man who has professed his Christian faith and values for many years.

I guess those values don’t include embracing your fellow man, unless of course than fellow man has exactly the same values as you.

He accomplished very little in his Presidency. As a result, he should keep his negative comments to himself. After all, he couldn’t even deal with the Iran Hostage Crisis.

Remember, his rescue efforts failed and left a good number of American dead. Saying the Bush administration is the worst in history is the pot calling the kettle black.

Five Things One Cannot Say In America

I found an interesting piece on the Right Wing News. It is an article about 5 things you cannot say in America.

Believe it or not, I have said these things, along with others, in the past. In fact, I was discussing listing number 3 this week with my high school students.

Here are the five things:

1. The U.S. military should be far less concerned about civilian casualties.

2. The United States would be better off if less people voted.

3. Men are better equipped than women to do certain jobs.

4. Racism is not the biggest problem that black Americans face any more.

5. The only practical way to make peace between the Israelis and Palestinians is for the Israelis to transfer the Palestinians and take their land.

Check out the original article. It raises some interesting ideas and does make a person think.

One Down....Many To Go!!!!

Farmers Branch, Texas votes today approved an ordinance, by a 3 to 1, to ban apartment owners from renting to criminal aliens.

Opponents plan to file suit to stop the ordinance from taking effect.

The question is how can opponents sue to stop an ordinance that was legally voted on and approved by the legal votes of a city’s residents? I am not a lawyer, by that doesn’t seem possible to me.

It is about time that people are stepping up to the plate and doing something to make communities unappealing to criminals.

YES…..Illegal immigrants ARE CRIMINALS, along with the people who hire them.

Kudos go out to the citizens of Framers Branch. Perhaps many others will follow your lead.

One city down…..many more to go!!!

Today in History: 1972: Israeli Commandos Storm Hijacked Jet

Thirty-five years ago today, Israeli solders stormed an airplane and rescued 100 people being held hostage.

Why don't we follow the example of Israel in terms of security and dealing with terrorists?

Below is a clip from an article on the BBC.

Twelve Israeli soldiers disguised as maintenance staff have stormed a hijacked Sabena Boeing at Lod airport in Tel Aviv and released the 100 people on board.
Two of the Arab hijackers were shot dead and their two female companions were captured, although one of them was injured in the attack.

Six of the passengers were also wounded in the gun battle. The 90 passengers and 10 crew had been held hostage for 23 hours.

The end to their ordeal came when two vans, said to be carrying repair men, drove onto the runway and approached the plane.

Two of the men burst into the cockpit and said they were taking over the jet

The men got out and pretended to begin work on the airliner but suddenly climbed onto the wings and opened the emergency doors.

The British pilot, Captain Reginald Levy, said: "Everyone of us is lucky to be alive. I have had some tough times but this was my toughest."

The airliner was hijacked after leaving Vienna, where it had made a stop on a flight from Brussels to Tel Aviv.

Capt Levy said: "Two of the men burst into the cockpit and said they were taking over the jet."

He was ordered to fly the plane to Lod, where the gunmen offered to free the passengers in exchange for 100 Arab prisoners held by the Israelis.

While the plane was sitting on the tarmac, the Israelis managed to let down the tyres and empty the fuel tanks to prevent it taking off again.

Israeli Defence Minister Moshe Dayan took charge of negotiations with the hijackers, initially offering to free the Arab prisoners in return for the release of the hostages.

Later Israeli officials said there was never any intention to release the prisoners. It was simply a delaying tactic.

The gunmen belonged to the Black September Organisation of Palestine guerrillas, a splinter group of the PLO.

One of the rescued passengers, Mor Weiss, from Brooklyn, told The Times: "The soldiers opened the four doors, two on either side at the same time. Immediately the Arabs started shooting wildly.

"The troops fired back and I saw the younger of the two male hijackers fall with a bullet through his forehead. Seconds later the other one was shot."

Mr Weiss said he had been picked on because he was wearing a skull cap. He was sent to the back of the plane and made to sit with a stick of dynamite between his feet.

Captain Levy, who comes from Slough, told a news conference, the drama had happened on his 50th birthday. His wife had accompanied him on the flight so they could have a celebratory birthday meal in Tel Aviv.

No To Criminal Aliens

I recently found this posting on QubeTV. It really sums up the criminal alien problem.

It certainly summarizes the views of many true Americans.

"NO TO AMNESTY"

"NO TO GUEST WORKER"

"NO TO A FREE RIDE"

STOP THE INVASION NOW

PROTECT OUR BORDERS

Throw them all out --if they are not here legally --round them up and send them back to the countries they came from.. We have to stop this SILENT INVASION!!

Texas Truth could not have said it any better.

AMERIKA: A Mini Series from 1987

On my many nights of insomnia, like tonight, I sometimes find myself surfing the net and looking for anything that appears interesting.

For some reason, I remembered a television mini series from the late 1980s called "Amerika." It was about the Soviet Union taking over the United States.

It had many story lines, but I remember Kris Kristofferson was the star. I went to the Internet Movie Database and looked it up.

It brought back some thoughts from 20 years ago, and it made me think.

If John Kerry had been elected, the United States could have ended up like it was depicted in the movie.

I am very afraid if Hillary or Obama get elected, we could be looking at the same thing. The tag line for the movie was:

1997. The world is different. The dream is the same. Let freedom ring.

I shutter to think that we could end up like that.

We need Ronald Reagan back, or at least someone who will have his ideals and leadership.

Potential Voter Fraud Uncovered In Houston

Harris County Tax Assessor Paul Bettencourt has uncovered a plot to steal dozens of votes with a non-existent address.

All the applications were mailed from El Paso and had the address of 2519 Dashwood Drive, which does not exist.

"We know because all the handwriting is the same," Bettencourt was quoted in saying.

"This type of fraud is used specifically against people in general elections,"
Bettencourt said. "It's used against people in primaries. It's not specific to any political party."

I can only speculate as to who would instigate such a scheme, but I have some ideas.

This is an classic example of why we need to require a photo id to vote in this country. Some groups will do anything to flood the ballot box with fraudulent votes.

It is no wonder that the liberals are against photo identification to vote. It might cut into their number of votes.

"THEY CAN'T DEPORT ALL OF US"

This past weekend, I was in Houston on business. I was driving down the access road on Highway 45 south, heading towards Galveston.

I had just pulled out of a store, after getting myself a soft drink and I saw an old panel truck sitting in a parking lot outside one of the many flea markets in the area.

Painted on the side, with what I figured was a can of black spray paint, was the phrase "You can't deport all of us."

I just shook my head and drove on to my appointment.

"They" just don't get it. We actually COULD deport them all. The fact is that the government won't allow it to happen.

Next time I will keep a camera in my car to take a photo of such nonsense.

The GOP Presidential Candidates Debate TONIGHT

I have been watching the GOP Debate on MSNBC this evening.
Much is being said and I am becoming more knowledgable about each of their platforms and views.

There is one thing I realy like about the debate. That one thing is where it is being held, The Ronald Reagan Library.

It is the perfect place to hold the debate, in the library of Ronald Reagan, IMHO the BEST President of the United States in my lifetime and perhaps of all time.

The good Lord knows we could sure use him now.

Houston Independent Media Center

I frequently visit the Houston Independent Media Center website to keep track of what the tree hugging, koolade drinking, left wing nut cases are doing.
The site is actually a good place to find out where the liberal wackos are "doing their thing" to give me ammunition for my blog.

Below is a short clip from a posting on their blog about their upcoming meeting. Pay particular interest to the words printed in RED.

This Saturday, from 4 to 6 pm, Houston Indymedia comes together for its monthly general meeting. Come to discuss coverage, film screenings, our radio show, outreach y mas.

This month, we're meeting at the t.e.j.a.s. office on 6733 Harrisburg Blvd (in the East End). Check us out if you're into making independent media as part of a non-commerecial, democratic collective that serves as the local organizing unit of the globall Indymedia network.

Doesn't the words "democratic collective" bring back the memory of the good old Communist party. Makes one wonder what their true leanings are.

Rosie O'Donnell: The Newest Member of the "Dancing Monkey Club"

Rosie O'Donnell needs to just shut her mouth and move on. In fact, she is actually helping the conservatives. When people who have loved ones in the military hear her describe them as "stupid" and "felons," they will turn on her and her views.

As I have stated in previous posts and on other blogs I have posted on, this is a classic example of the "Dancing Monkey Syndrome."

Rosie needs to stick to the entertainment world and entertain us like the "little monkey" she is. No one really cares about an enetrtainer's political opinions.

Remember she got her start as a VJ on MTV. That is the same network that brought us "Rock the Vote" and a young woman asking Slick Willie if he wore boxers or briefs.

Here is the clip from "The View" this morning. She is such a hack!!!

O’DONNELL: Wait, can I just say something? Why do people enlist in the Army?

RICKI LAKE: To get an education, and they're poor-

O’DONNELL: Thank you.

LAKE: -and that’s the only way to get one.

O’DONNELL: The vast majority– Yes, Elisabeth. It’s true!

No, it’s not. According to a recent study by the Heritage Foundation, military enlistees are "better educated, wealthier, and more rural on average than their civilian peers." Additionally, "recruits have a higher percentage of high school graduates" and "the distribution of household income of recruits is noticeably higher than the entire youth population." Of course, facts don’t matter to Rosie O’Donnell. After all, fire can’t melt steel.
Token non-liberal Elisabeth Hasselbeck responded harshly and Rosie continued to smear volunteer soldiers before she claimed that she does support the troops.

HASSELBECK: First of all, in the past year, the testing scores of our armed services have been higher than ever, so the education level-

O’DONNELL: You are wrong. We have more convicted felons in the Army because we’re allowing them to get through.

HASSELBECK: So they're awful. They’re awful then.

O’DONNELL: Elisabeth, I do everything I can to support the troops financially and emotionally. I love them as much as you do. I'm as much of a patriot. I want them home.
