It seems, after doing some research that Ted Kennedy IS eligible to be buried in Arlington national Cemetery.
Kennedy enlisted in the United States Army in June 1951. Following basic training at Fort Dix, he requested assignment to Fort Holabird for Army Intelligence training, but was dropped after a few weeks without explanation.
He then went to Camp Gordon for training in the Military Police Corps. In June 1952, he was assigned to the honor guard at SHAPE headquarters in Paris.
His father's political connections ensured he was not deployed to the ongoing Korean War. He was discharged in March 1953 as a private first class.
As a result, he IS eligible to be buried in Arlington, even if he did have a military career of less than 2 years. In any case, those are the rules and he has the right to be buries there.

He may qualify, but he does NOT belong there TT. Soon they will be trying to rename it to Kennedy National Cemetary. I find it DISGUSTING! JFK was the only Kennedy that deserved to be there. I qualify to be buried there also but I bet that will never happen!
