Increased Numbers Seeking Free, Reduced Lunches

In yesterday's Houston Chronicle, it was stated that schools in Houston and across Texas are dishing out thousands more subsidized meals this year, an uptick attributed to the recession.

Nearly 2.7 million children statewide qualified for free or reduced-priced lunches in December, the latest period for which figures are available. That’s a nearly 5 percent increase from the previous year.

I have seen students getting free lunches while having an IPod in their pocket, a cell phone hanging off their belt, while wearing $150.00 athletic shoes. What is wrong with their parents(s) making them a lunch and them carrying it to school?

After they get their free lunch, eat what they want and throw the rest away, they walk over to the snack bar and buy a hamburger, fries and a drink. One reason they get free lunches are they are considered "poverty" status. In reality, they should be considered "moocher" status. Thank you liberal, limp-wristed, pot smoking, koolade drinking, coombuya loving democrats for allowing people to become dependent on the government.

There was a time when if you took a handout you were considered a loser, a lowlife, and low class. Now it is considered an honor and termed "getting over." Expect more of this under the administration of The Current Temporary Resident of the White House. There is no free lunch. Someone pays for it.

The TRUE hard working American CITIZENS are the people paying for these low life freeloaders. If you want your kids to eat, then work!!!!
