The Highwaymen's Official Video of "Highwayman"

I woke up at 4:30am on this Thanksgiving Day of 2007. My mother-in-law, who lives with my wife and I, got up at 5:30am and made her usual cup of coffee. She had the radio on in the kitchen and I could hear it playing softly in the background.

My mother-in-law is an old fashion woman and loves old time country and western music. The song she was listening to was sung by The Highwaymen (Johnny Cash, Kris Kristopherson, Willie Nelson, and Waylon Jennings). I am not a fan of old time county music, but I do like this song.

Listen and watch below. It is the official video for the song. I think you will agree with me that this is a great song. It really has a red-blooded American appeal to it.

Sunsara Taylor: A Wild Radical? You Make The Choice?

I was watching The O’Reilly Factor last night on Fox News and he had Laura Ingraham sitting in for him. She had on Sunsara Taylor, who is a writer for the Revolution Newspaper and sits on the Advisory Board of The World Can’t Wait-Drive Out the Bush Regime.

As I listened to her and Laura go back and forth, all I could think was how much of a wacko she (Taylor) was.

She is completely out of control; a real nut case. The more she talked, the more ridiculous she sounded. I am going to keep my eye and ear out for her. She certainly sounds like a dangerous young woman and reminds me of some of the radical hippies of the 1960s.

Here is a link to her blog. I do not know where she gets her material, but it seems she has a great deal of hate in her. The sites I have linked above have some very dangerous ideas and thoughts on them.

Female Murderer Caught In Houston

Houston police caught 18-year-old Lauren Raychelle Kirkman on Tuesday She has been charged for the first-degree murder of cab driver Derick Bernard Byers and she fought with the officers while being arrested.

Below is the clip from the
Houston Chronicle.

Houston woman charged in the fatal shooting of a cabdriver is in police custody, arrested late Tuesday night outside a convenience store, hours after authorities released her name.

Investigators received a tip that Lauren Raychelle Kirkman was at the store in the 9700 block of Beechnut. The 18-year-old is charged with capital murder in the Nov. 13 death of Derick Bernard Byers. Byers, a subcontractor for Yellow Cab Inc., was shot in the back of the head. He died on Friday.

Police on Wednesday said Kirkman was belligerent when officers tried to arrest her about 11:15 p.m. Officers deployed a Taser on Kirkman, who police said was not armed when she was arrested.

Byers had been dispatched to the 6700 block of Sidney in the Third Ward, where he picked up Kirkman.

Kirkman is accused of pulling a pistol and shooting the 39-year-old cab driver She also is accused of pushing him out of his cab at 10441 Westheimer. He was found in the parking lot of a Westheimer bank and was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital.

Investigators later found the taxi abandoned in the 9800 block of Pagewood at the Westchase Forest Townhomes.

It is unusual to have a female thug. However, society is seeing more of these "animals" evolve to terrorize good people. It is the typical action of low-lifes like this to blame others for their problems and lash out any anyone and everyone.

She has been arrested. Now have a trial, convict her, and give her the needle. Soon she will not have to worry about all her troubles. She will be joining Miguel Antonio DeJesus and Diego Ortiz in the hereafter.

I wonder if Quanell X will show up to condemn the killing of Derick Bernard Byers? Probably not!

Immigration Laws The United States Should Have and Enforce

I have posted numerous times to this forum my views about illegal immigration and the negative effects on this country. I have mentioned the immigration laws of Mexico and even posted some of them.

I felt it was again time to list the immigration laws of Mexico. Please remember that these laws come from a country that encourages millions of it citizens to invade the United States and threatened to take the USA to the United Nations for building a fence on American soil.

The laws state that immigrants must meet the following requirement to be in Mexico:

1. be in the country legally
2. have the means to sustain themselves economically
3. not be destined to be burdens on society
4. be of economic and social benefit to society
5. be of good character and have no criminal records
6. be contributors to the general well-being of the nation

Their law also ensures that:

1. immigration authorities have a record of each foreign visitor
2. foreign visitors do not violate their visa status
3. foreign visitors are banned from interfering in the country's internal politics
4. foreign visitors who enter under false pretenses are imprisoned or deported
5. foreign visitors violating the terms of their entry are imprisoned or deported
6. those who aid in illegal immigration will be sent to prison

If a politician would step up and propose the United States follow the same laws as Mexico, I would throw my total support behind them. He or she would get my vote, no matter what else they proposed (well, within reason).

"Of Whom Should The Government Take Care?"

"Correction of my Grammatically Challenged Title"
A comment was left by "anonymous" stating the my title "Who Should The Government Take Care Of?" was not grammatically correct. I have corrected it and give him full credit for catching my error. Just like the "Unknown Solider" buried in Washington, DC, this kind individual will have to remain "anonymous" to the world. Thank you for helping me be a better writer and thank you for doing it in a polite and courtious manner. I sincerlely appreciate it. Now on to the post.

After watching the Democratic debate in Las Vegas the other night, I started to think about a theory I developed many years ago. I believe that it is as true today as when I first came up with it thirty years ago.

The liberal Democrats want money, money, and more money for their pet projects. They want to be everything to everyone and they do not care what it costs.

I believe there are four groups of people whom the government need to take care of and protect. I do not mean 100% care and 100% protection. I mean if they need help and have no one else to turn to, the government should be there to help, within reason.

1: CHILDREN: The government needs to take care of children in matters of education, child abuse, and their general wellbeing. This does not remove the biological parents or family from their responsibility for the children. The family should be the primary resource for child rearing.

2: ELDERLY: The government need to help the elderly when they can no longer take care of themselves. This does not mean a free handout for those who chose to sit on the asses and not accomplish anything in their lifetime. This does not remove the biological family from their responsibility for the elderly. The family should be the primary resource for caring for the elderly.

3: PEOPLE WHO CANNOT PHYSICALLY OR MENTALLY TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES: People who have physical and mental disabilities should be taken care. However, the family should have the primary responsibility for them. The government should look out for them and make sure they are not abused or denied basic services. This does not include those who placed themselves in this state, such as alcoholics and drug users.

4: PEOPLE WHO HAVE SERVED IN THE MILITARY TO DEFEND OUR COUNTRY: People who defend our country should be taken care of for life That should be a basic benefit for those who serve in the military.

As for everyone else, they can get off their lazy butts and get a job. If they choose not to work, they can starve. I could not care less. If you are able to work, then work If you refuse, do not expect a handout from the government. That goes for your family too.

I expect some people to agree with me and others to disagree. Let me know what you think and please remember to keep it clean (or relatively so.)

Photos and Bios of Criminals Killed in Pasadena, Texas

Diego Ortiz (far left) was one of the two criminals who was killed by Pasadena resident Joe Horn after they burglarized a neighbor's home and then entered Horn's yard.

Miguel de Jesus (near left) was the other criminal who "met his maker" as a result of his criminal behavior. De Jesus had a criminal history and was on parole when he was killed.
I guess these two will never have to worry about making a bad decision again. Their fate was a result of their own actions. To quote my dear old father:
"Don't do the crime if you can't do the time."

Pasadena, Texas Man Kills Two Criminals Caught In The Act

61-year-old Joe Horn of Pasadena, Texas saw two criminals breaking into his neighbor's house and did what every red-blooded American citizen SHOULD do. He defended his neighbor's property and shot the two criminal's dead. In fact, he confronted them on HIS property, and as they brandished a crowbar at him, he sent them to the great beyond.

The criminals were Miguel Antonio DeJesus, 38, and Diego Ortiz, 30, both of Houston.

Click here to read a story on the incident.

I have been to Pasadena many times over the years. It used to be a middle class working town where families raised their children and lived their lives.

In recent years, Pasadena has turned into a third world country. It looks like Little Mexico. The old part of Pasadena, which once had beautiful houses and neighborhoods look like Tijuana, Mexico.

Crime is up and many of the long time residents have moved away. When I was surfing tonight and read this on a news site, I was not surprise that this happened in Pasadena.

This man did what more good citizens should do. If more people did what he did, we would not see so much crime.

I will keep abreast of this story and make future posts as to its progress.

Paul Tibbets Dead at 92

I was surfing the net this afternoon and came across the sad information that Paul Tibbets had died. For those of who whom are historically challenged, Paul Tibbets was the commander and pilot of the Enola Gay, which dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima in the closing days of World War 2.

Below is an excellent post I found about Tibbets on the
SonicBomb website.

Paul Tibbets, the commander of the B-29 that dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima in 1945, has died at the age of 92 after several months of failing health. Paul Warfield Tibbets Jr died at his home in Columbus, Ohio..

The five-ton "Little Boy" bomb was dropped on the morning of 6 August 1945, killing about 140,000 Japanese, with many dying later from injury and disease.

Gen Tibbets had asked for no funeral nor headstone as he feared opponents of the bombing may use it as a place of protest, the friend, Gerry Newhouse, said.

On the 60th anniversary of the bombing, the three surviving crew members of the Enola Gay said they had "no regrets".

On the 60th anniversary of Hiroshima, the surviving members of the Enola Gay crew - Gen Tibbets, Theodore J "Dutch" Van Kirk (the navigator) and Morris R Jeppson (weapon test officer) said: "The use of the atomic weapon was a necessary moment in history. We have no regrets".

Gen Tibbets said then: "Thousands of former soldiers and military family members have expressed a particularly touching and personal gratitude suggesting that they might not be alive today had it been necessary to resort to an invasion of the Japanese home islands to end the fighting."

In a 1975 interview he said: "I'm proud that I was able to start with nothing, plan it and have it work as perfectly as it did... I sleep clearly every night."

In 1976, Gen Tibbets was criticised for re-enacting the bombing at an air show in Texas.

A mushroom cloud was set off as he over flew in a B-29 Superfortress in a stunt that outraged Japan. Gen Tibbets said it was not meant as an insult but the US government formally apologised.

In 1995, Gen Tibbets denounced as a "damn big insult" a planned 50th anniversary exhibition of the Enola Gay at the Smithsonian Institution that put the bombing in context of the suffering it caused.

He and veterans groups said too much attention was being paid to Japan's suffering and not enough to its military brutality.

I consider Tibbets to be one of the "true" heroes of World War 2. He was given a mission and carried it out to success. The dropping of the atomic bombs on Japan brought about the end to the war and saved countless American lives.

It has always bothered me that revisionists attempt to put a negative spin on the use of atomic bombs in WW2. It was a necessary action and brought and end to the war.

In the above quote from SonicBomb, Tibbets denounced as a "damn big insult" a planned 50th anniversary exhibition of the Enola Gay at the Smithsonian Institution that put the bombing in context of the suffering it caused.

I couldn't agree more. Hell, the Japanese started the war and we ended it. That is all that needs to be said.

Perhaps if we had some politicians of recent generations that had the balls to do something similar, we would not have the problems we have today.

Rest In Peace General Tibbets. I, for one, am thankful for what you did.

The Worst/Most Painful Game Show Of All-Time

I was still surfing on Tuesday evening and came across this video clip on YouTube. This has to be the worst and most painful game show of all time. I wonder what would make a man get on stage on allow this to be done to him?

I can only hope the prize money was substantial. In any case, I wonder how much they did receive? My only though was it would take at least 5 figures for me to do that.

This from the county that brought us Toyota, Fuji Film and World War Two. Oh my, how times have changed!

An Old, Meaningful Story Updated to Modern Times

As I was surfing this evening, I came across this interesting take on the old parable of the Ant and the Grasshopper.

First the tradition story of the Ant and the Grasshopper:

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be responsible for yourself!

Now the story updated to current times:

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.

CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food. America is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper, and everybody cries when they sing, "It's Not Easy Being Green."

Jesse Jackson stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing, "We shall overcome." Jesse then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper's sake.

Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry & Harry Reid exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity and Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer!

The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the government.

Hillary gets her old law firm to represent the grasshopper in a defamation suit against the ant, and the case is tried before a panel of federal judges that Bill Clinton appointed from a list of single-parent welfare recipients. The ant loses the case.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in, which just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around him because he doesn't maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the once peaceful neighborhood.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be careful how you vote in 2008.
