This is one of the clips form "Full Metal Jacket" with R. Lee Emery playing the Drill Instructor. This was the military that my father went through.

Believe it or not, when I was in basic I loved marching. The cadence calls were pieces of arts. Nothing compares to some squared away troops marching tall and proud. Inspiring. Our D.I. used to double time us up to other flights (platoons) and have us try to disrupt their march by drowning out their heelbeats. It worked everytime as we would watch that telltale wave of heads develop instead of the steady up and down of the heads of troops marching in time. Good times. Our flight could march like hell. Saved us lots of KP as our DI won a lot of bets with us. The only part of the military I miss.
Law and Order Teacher: People whom serve in the military are buds for life. My father was a First Sargent. I guess that is why I am so hard on my students. The way we are suppose to teach them today in class make students nothing but worthless and weak.
