Clint Eastwood and "Invictus"

I am sitting in my favorite chair, watching "Cash Cab", and surfing the net. A commercial came on for the movie "Invictus".

Below is the plot summary from The Internet Movie Database:

The film tells the inspiring true story of how Nelson Mandela joined forces with the captain of South Africa's rugby team to help unite their country. Newly elected President Mandela knows his nation remains racially and economically divided in the wake of apartheid. Believing he can bring his people together through the universal language of sport, Mandela rallies South Africa's rugby team as they make their historic run to the 1995 Rugby World Cup Championship match.

I am a sucker for a good inspirational sports movie, but I fear "Invictus
" may be another vehicle for Hollywood to revise history and promote their socialist agenda.

I have NEVER been a fan of Nelson Mandela. He was a terrorist who fought against the established government in South Africa and was imprisoned for his actions.

Apartheid was horrid and unjust, but so was Mandela's socialism, and the atrocious act committed by himself and the African National Congress (ANC) should not be forgotten.

He is anti-American and until July 2, 2008, was listed on the United States' official list of terrorists. The ANC was also listed as a terrorist organization.

"Invictus" was directed by Clint Eastwood. History has shown that Eastwood was a long time conservative but recently has been described as a libertarian. He supported John McCain's bid for the White House, but was sympathetic towards Hillary Clinton's bid for the presidency.

In 2006, Eastwood directed two films about the battle of Iwo Jima in World War 2. The first one, "Flags of Our Fathers", focused on the men who raised the American flag on top of Mount Suribachi. The second one, "Letters from Iwo Jima", dealt with the tactics of the Japanese soldiers on the island and the letters they wrote to family members.

Many felt he showed disrespect for the people who fought in World War 2 by humanizing the Japanese in the second film.

As I stated earlier, I hope "Invictus" is not an attempt to further the socialist agenda that is running amok in the United States since the last election.

I hope Eastwood is not going to the Dark Side, but things being the way they are, he could have been a RINO all along, citing his support of McCain and his sympathetic view of Hillary Clinton.

VIDEO: Former Silsbee Football Players Post Bond

The Hardin County grand jury handed up indictments this past Tuesday afternoon against two of three football players accused of sexually assaulting a Silsbee High School cheerleader in 2008. The District Attorney’s office confirmed the indictments were handed up against Christian Rountree and Rakheem Bolton charging them with sexual assault of a child.

I wonder who the third football player is?

Below is a video clip from KBMT Channel 12 television in Beaumont.

Two Former Silsbee (TX) Football Players Indicted for Sexual Assult

A southeastern Texas grand jury has indicted two former Silsbee High School sfootball players in the alleged sexual assault of a school cheerleader.

Read the story in the Houston Chronicle by clicking
here.

IMHO, Bolton (left) and Roundtree (above) sound like a couple of "players" who "believed" they could do as they pleased because they had the skill of catching and/or throwing a football.

I will keep everyone posted on this story.

"The family isn't happy with their daughter being assaulted or with anything surrounding the case, but they're satisfied the system is back on track. It's interesting that this is the second grand jury to hear the facts that occurred more than a year ago. Another grand jury was scheduled to hear the case in September of this year, but because of the inappropriate release of information to the grand jury from the D.A.'s office, that grand jury was denied the opportunity to hear the case. This grand jury heard essentially the same information heard by the previous grand jury. They had the Silsbee P.D. case file. This has been available to the school district and they didn't do one darned thing except yank the cheerleader out of her activities because she protested having to cheer during a basketball game for one of the people accused of sexually assaulting her." - Larry Watts, a Houston-area attorney representing the teen's family in the civil lawsuit filed in Hardin County.

Hasan Hired Lawyer To Help Get Discharge

The Houston Chronicle posted on their "News Watch: Breaking News" page the Hasan had hired lawyer to help get a discharge from the U.S. Army.

Here is the article:

The Associated Press is digging into possible motives for the shootings. The military has said Hasan was scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan, but AP reporter Angela K. Brown reports that some family members suggested he was trying avoid serving overseas.

Hasan's relatives who live in the Palestinian territories have said they had heard from family members that Hasan felt mistreated in the Army as a Muslim.
"He told (them) that as a Muslim committed to his prayers he was discriminated against and not treated as is fitting for an officer and American," said Mohammed Malik Hasan, 24, a cousin, told the AP from his home on the outskirts of Ramallah, a Palestinian city north of Jerusalem. "He hired a lawyer to get him a discharge."
Here is a response by a poster named SHunter:

Garbage. Absolute freaking garbage. It's almost like they (along with the media's help) are trying to justify what he did. I call BS.

If you are unhappy with deployment, then don't deploy. They can't/won't "force" you to deploy. You may go to jail or something, but they can't "force" you to go. Killing 12 random people and wounding 30 more is in no way any sort of "solution" to that problem.

He was harassed and discriminated against? Sure, it would be ignorant to assume that he never experienced any of that, but haven't we all (yes, including white people)? In fact, it sounds like he was VERY WELL LIKED by a lot of people who were around him, including neighbors and peers... The one reported incident regarding his car being keyed and an Allah bumper-sticker being ripped off resulted in the suspect being arrested. But an isolated incident of harassment/discrimination drove him to killing 12 random people and wounding 30 more?

Absolute GARBAGE. Quit trying to justify what this terrorist did. Yes, that's right, he's a terrorist. That doesn't mean that his religion definitely played a role in this, but it would be very hard to dismiss, given the extreme nature of what he did and his blog post comparing suicide attacks to jumping on a live grenade...

It just sickens me to hear his family and the media try to justify and "make sense" of this terrorist's actions....
And yet another by DAMCMP:

as an Army veteran..the job is hard enough without
dumba$$es and foulups and MUSLIMS behind you with a gun......as a Major and a doctor he wasn't facing much hardcore combat...so were all the privates picking on him on the playground? I don't think so....... the Uniform Code Military Justice would not allow for that....

They both make valid points. It is a shame that I cannot use this murderer and his actions as a "teachable moment" in my classes.

Hasen, PBo and the Houston Chronicle

I was reading the Houston Chronicle this morning; posting comments to the articles under my moniker "texasquestion". There was a post concerning PBo not going to Fort Hood to comfort and show his compassion for the victims and their families.

The following comments were posted by people.

SLATER2099 wrote:

Why is Obama not at Fort Hood right now? over 40 U.S. Military personel are either wounded or killed on U.S. soil...Obama didn't seem to have a problem appearing on "The Late Show with David Letterman" in September or taking time out of his schedule to drink a beer with a Harvard professor and Cambridge police officer who had a dispute over a local, misdemeanor arrest in July.

fenceSitter had the following reply:

why? does a president need to go? would it not be a distraction. There were enough political grandstanders from our great gov to others running for office. sometimes the best thing is to stay away. the base is in morning. Do you know what it takes for the president to just fly down there

My response to both is as follows:

Why? Why you inquire? Because the act of going to Fort Hood does not benefit him one single bit (or so he thinks). What he does not realize, or doesn’t care, is that as a result of his inaction and insensibility to the troops at Fort Hood, he has lost their vote and support forever. History will view what he did shortly after the attack and his lack of commitment and support to the victims and their families in the hours and days following the attack as the beginning of his downfall. The military, those who have any connection to the military, and their supporters have a VERY LONG memory and THEY VOTE!!!! That one single act of inaction is the beginning of the end of his political career.

Just some food for thought and the opinion of a damn good educator!!!!

I Am Back and MAD AS HELL!!!!!

Things are still pushing me to the limit at school, but recent events have inspired me to get serious about posting again.

I was leaving school yesterday when I heard the news about the shooting at Fort Hood. I have had a good deal of interaction with the area and its residents for the past 40 years.

It is an area of middle class, conservative values. The people of the area are the kind of people you would want to live in your neighborhood.

To hear that Nidal Malik Hasan walked into the Soldiers’ Readiness Processing Centre on Fort Hood and begin killing soldiers and anyone who got in the way first mad me hurt...then it mad em MAD!!!

There is some discussion and debate of what Hasan's intentions were?

IMHO, there was only one reason for this senseless act!

HASEN IS A TERRORIST!

HASEN HAD BEEN PLANNING THIS!

NOT ONLY IS HE A TERRORIST..HE IS A MUSLIM TERRORIST!

I hope the have the trial of this low-life piece of trash in Texas. I would love to go see this guy put through the ringer.

As always, the main stream media is attempting to placate the liberals. Last night, I had posts and comments that were critical of Hasen and our President removed from the Houston Chronicle's site.

I guess that was because I had the guts to claim that PBo (Barack HUSSEIN Obama) is partially to blame for this act. If he would get off his butt act like a PRESIDENT, then this may have been avoided.

He stated that he was saddened by the incident and we should not jump to conclusions about the shooter.

I can jump to all the conclusions I want...This guy needs to be executed.

I would like to ask PBo how does it feel to have this terrible act happen on his watch, while he failed to act to protect pout country, our citizens, and our military?

If I did make the inquiry, I would expect the same double-talk and triple speak that he has used to get everything he wanted his entire life.

IDIOTIC QUOTE: Number 1

I am starting a new feature on this blog entitled IDIOTIC QUOTE.

It will be a collection of quotes I find in the news that are either an outright lie or just plain idiotic.

Today's quote was made by White House budget director Peter Orszag.

"It was critical that we acted to bring the economy back from the brink earlier this year. The president recognizes that we need to put the nation back on a fiscally sustainable path."
This from a lackey of the man who actually took the economy to the brink

I AM NOT DEAD!!!

Contrary to popular rumor, I AM NOT DEAD!!!

My school has been keeping me so busy. Our TAKS scores were not as good as they could have been and the administration is running around; running our asses into the ground to get the scores up.

My response to them is, "You cannot get blood from a turnip!"

My fellow educators and I are working our butts off to do the very best job possible, but when you have students who are more interested in gang banging, sex, drugs and whatever entitlements they feel they deserve from the government, people who care cannot do much more than they already do.

We are fighting a culture that does not value education and in such a venue, immediate gratification is what they want; what they demand; what they expect.

In any case, I am back to posting whenever I can get my head above water.

My Lovely Bride and I commented the other day that retirement looks mighty good right now.

Time will only tell.

"I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It's a depression. Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel's worth; banks are going bust; shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter; punks are running wild in the street, and there's nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it.

We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat. And we sit watching our TVs while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that's the way it's supposed to be!

We all know things are bad -- worse than bad -- they're crazy.

It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out any more. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we're living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, "Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials, and I won't say anything. Just leave us alone."

Well, I'm not going to leave you alone.

I want you to get mad!

I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot. I don't want you to write to your Congressman, because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street.

All I know is that first, you've got to get mad.

You've gotta say, "I'm a human being, goddammit! My life has value!"

So, I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out and yell,

Female Singers of the 50s-60s-70s

My Lovely Bride and I were coming home from an evening out on Saturday night and were lsitening to our favorite 50s-60s-70s radio station.

Karen Carpenter came on and all we could think about was "what a waste of such a God-given talent." Why did not someone figure out the pain and suffering she was going through and attempt to help her?

We then began to think about others female singers from the same era who had the BEST voices. We agreed on four of them and had a disagreement on the fifth.

Here is the list in no particular order.

Karen Carpenter
Janis Joplin
Aretha Franklin
Mama Cass

My wife's fifth pick was Cher. I do not agree with her on that selection. IMHO, Cher sang the same type of song with the same kind of voice; really not very much range.

My fifth pick was Linda Ronstadt. She had a voice that put one in the mood (if you know what I mean). When she made the switch over to Latin themed songs, one could still feel the "power" of her voice.

Let us know what you think.

“We came out right in the middle of the hard-rock period... it was hard-rock everywhere! But we were ready to make our music, you know? And it was such a turnaround, I guess it caught people by surprise.” - Karen Carpenter

Update on Ted Kennedy Being Buried in Arlington

It seems, after doing some research that Ted Kennedy IS eligible to be buried in Arlington national Cemetery.

Kennedy enlisted in the United States Army in June 1951. Following basic training at Fort Dix, he requested assignment to Fort Holabird for Army Intelligence training, but was dropped after a few weeks without explanation.

He then went to Camp Gordon for training in the Military Police Corps. In June 1952, he was assigned to the honor guard at SHAPE headquarters in Paris.

His father's political connections ensured he was not deployed to the ongoing Korean War. He was discharged in March 1953 as a private first class.

As a result, he IS eligible to be buried in Arlington, even if he did have a military career of less than 2 years. In any case, those are the rules and he has the right to be buries there.

"I STAND CORRECTED." - Texas Truth

Ted Kennedy DEAD!!!

It is been a while since I have posted as things have been busy getting ready for the beginning of school.

This will be year 32 (33 if you count student teaching) for Texas Truth. One third of a century. That is a long time in the classroom.

Well, on to other things.

Ted Kennedy died yesterday. It is always a tragic occurrence when someone dies, especially from cancer.

But what concerns me about all the tributes to Kennedy is what happened 40 years ago. A young woman died in a overturned car submerged in water. That woman was Mary Jo Kopechne.

Belief what you will. I have a definite opinion of Ted Kennedy and his involved in the accident. If you have read any of my posts on this forum, I think you KNOW what I feel about this man.

In another related matter. WHAT give Kennedy the right to be buried in Arlington National Cemetery?

"Who Wants Chower?"

This is, in my humble opinion, the funniest clip ever done on Family Guy. YES, I know it is gross, sophomoric, and immature, but it is funny. Even My Love Bride thinks it is gross, sophomoric, and immature, but she still laughs every single time it comes on.

Enjoy!!!

Democrats are RUNNING SCARED!!!!

From NewsMax.com

The democrats' "powers that be" are thinking of trashing the concept of town hall meetings, according to the Wall Street Journal.

They have been holding town hall meetings in an effort to build support for healthcare-reform legislation, but opponents have been attending the events and voicing their opposition.

As a result, democrats are reconsidering the town hall format for alternatives such as audio conferences and invitation-only small-group meetings.

Jimmy Carter: My Instincts Were Right!!! HE IS A JERK

After I woke up this morning, I found an article on Newmax.com about the Ronald Kessler book "In the President's Secret Service: Behind the Scenes With Agents in the Line of Fire and the Presidents They Protect." Click here to read the article.

It describes what a jerk President Jimmy Carter was/is. I had the opportunity to meet Carter 20 years ago and of course, I went. He was doing a book signing in Houston and My Lovely Bride and I went to get books signed. After all, he was a President of the United States and autographed copies of his books would be nice additions to our library. In addition, autographed books by a President would command a nice price if we ever decided to sell them.

I had always had my doubts about Carter. My impression was, as still is, that he was a phony. When he did the Playboy interview in 1976, he made a statement of which I will use a my quote for this post. Said quote just reinforces the fact that liberal democrats are a bunch of crazy, self absorbed lunatics.

I am going to get Kessler's book today. It will make a nice read before I go back to school.

"Because I'm just human and I'm tempted and Christ set some almost impossible standards for us. The Bible says, "Thou shalt not commit adultery." Christ said, I tell you that anyone who looks on a woman with lust has in his heart already committed adultery. I've looked on a lot of women with lust. I've committed adultery in my heart many times.... This is something that God recognizes, that I will do and have done, and God forgives me for it. But that doesn't mean that I condemn someone who not only looks on a woman with lust but who leaves his wife and shacks up with somebody out of wedlock. Christ says, don't consider yourself better than someone else because one guy screws a whole bunch of women while the other guy is loyal to his wife. The guy who's loyal to his wife ought not to be condescending or proud because of the relative degree of sinfulness." - Jimmy Carter.

A Short Vacation, A Resort, and a NEW Radio Station

My Lovely Bride and I snuck away from a few days to Lake Charles, Louisiana for a short vacation. We stayed at L'Auberge du Lac Hotel and Casino (pictured at the left).

My Lovely Bride had stayed there, with a friend from back east, earlier this summer. I told her we needed to get away for a few days, so away we went.

While we were there, I picked up on a radio station that plays the best music. It is KHLA-FM 92.9 "The Lake". It plays songs from the 50s, 60s and 70s that I have not heard in a long time.

Their website is
here. They do broadcast on the Internet, so I think they may be my new choice for listening when I am on the computer. It is too bad I cannot pick them up back in Texas.

Check it out. I think you may like it. Again, their website is
here.

People Are Getting Fed Up With....OBAMA

In the last 30 days, I have posted very little on this forum. That is the longest drought in Texas Truth history.

The fact is that I have been busy and really needed a break from blogging. This country and the issues that surround it are spinning out of control and I just needed a break.

However, I am back and ready to expound my views on the issues that effect the world. I am refreshed and ready to go.

Today, actually this morning, I was reading DrudgeReport and found an article posted with the image to the below.
I really like this image. It resonates with the theme that most of us feel about The Current Temporary Resident of the White House.

I say more power to the people that post such things. Imagesm some much worse than this, were published and posted about President George W. Bush during his eight years in office and few, if any on the left raised objection.

There was a quote with the article by Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson, calling the depiction, politically mean spirited and dangerous.

"Depicting the president as demonic and a socialist goes beyond political spoofery. It is mean-spirited and dangerous."

Hutchinson is challenging the group or individual that put up the poster to have the courage and decency to publicly identify themselves.

YEAH....RIGHT!!!

Why should the person reveal his of her identity? Just to be ridiculed and attacked by the left and The Boy Wonder's brown shirts.

I THINK NOT!!!

More people are getting upset with Little Barry Sortoro and his administration. The lights are dimming and perhaps a quote from football great Don Meredith may become true sooner than we think.

"Turn out the lights. The party's over."

Barack HUSSEIN Obama has invited Boston policeman James Crowley and black scholar Henry Louis Gates to The White House for a beer. They will meet on Thursday around 6:00 pm.

Houston ISD To Band Students From Sexting

The Houston Independent School District (HISD) school board is expected to revise the Student Code of Conduct to ban students from sending sexually provoactive photos by phone.

How in the HELL are they going to enforce that?

Read the story in the Houston Chronicle
here.

"It's a response to an issue that principals brought up. A girlfriend sends a picture to a boyfriend, who sends it to a friend, and pretty soon it's all over the school. To the extent it's an issue. Views of Ted Nugent in Texas

Insomnia set in again last night and I sit up surfing while knowing I cannot go to sleep. One thing lead to another and in the middle of my surfing, I came across a piece on Ted Nugent and his living near Waco, Texas.

Further searching and I found he is writing columns for various publications. I found one he had written for the Waco Tribune Herald. I have the link here.

The interesting thing is a list of what he believes. I have posted it below. Please let me know what YOU think.

He certainly has a way of putting things. I would LOVE to see him run for office. After all, we could use someone in Washington to take Al Franken down a few notches.

* We know that hunting, fishing and trapping are perfect.

* We know that to keep and bear arms is an individual, God-given right.

* We know that "keep" means "it's mine, you can't have it," and that "bear" means "I've got it right here on me."

* We know what "shall not be infringed" means.

* We know all too well that "gun-free zones" are a guaranteed recipe for disaster.

* We know that the current system of over-taxation cripples entrepreneurs and small businesses while rewarding the most slovenly amongst us.

* We know that upon the death of a loved family member, the government has no rational right to one red cent of our families' after-tax savings.

* We know that the IRS is a joke.

* We know that throwing money at our failed education system will make it worse.

* We know that the current system of testing students is counterproductive to actually teaching them.

* We know that violent criminals should never be let out of their cages.

* We know that child predators should be put to death.

* We know that you cannot live the American Dream without speaking English. Properly.

* We know that generations of welfare brats are slaves to soulless policies.

* We know that Rev. Jeremiah Wright is a racist.

* We know that David Koresh was loony, but the government was guilty of criminal acts against its citizens in how its agents dealt with him.

* We know that ethanol is a joke.

* We know that Willie Nelson is stoned.

* We know America is doomed if we don't secure our borders from illegal invaders.

* We know that Hillary and Obama have made it clear they want to ruin America.

* We don't know what the hell John McCain wants to do.

* We know what "Don't Tread on Me" means.

The article ended with the following statement:

God bless America and God bless Texas. Ted Nugent loves you.

Red State Update: Senator Al Franken

Jackie Broyles and Dunlap give their take on Al Franken! What has this country come to? Comedians should not be politicians, especially if they aren't funny.

"Hell, makes me sick" - Jackie Broyles
