Third Graders Hatch Plot to Attack Teacher

A group of third-graders plotted to attack their teacher, bringing a broken steak knife, handcuffs, duct tape and other items for the job and assigned children tasks including covering the windows and cleaning up afterward. The plot involving as many as nine boys and girls at Center Elementary School in Waycross, Georgia.

Couldn't agree with you more! I would take it one step further to read PS: NAIL THEIR LITTLE "and their parents" ASSES TO THE WALL!!!!

This is absolutely disgusting and profoundly disturbing, I'm sure even more so for you Tex since you are a teacher. I think the worst thing is that "no charges will be brought to the kids."

To me, that sounds like the local DA doesn't want to make any waves with these particular kids for one reason or another. I can assure you, that I would never have gotten away with pulling a stunt like this. Charges would have been filed and if my Dad got a hold of me I wouldn't have made it to my trial...in one piece at least.

When I was cop one of the more frustrating things to deal with was the pass that juveniles were given because of their age. I always thought that if you take grown-up actions you should expect grown-up consequences. Our society as a whole reaps the whirlwind of this failing and we teachers, particularly feel the impact everyday in the classroom. Good post.

I would bet that there is a ring-leader in the group that needs to be taken down a notch or three. If it does not happen in elementary school, the ring-leader will be running the jr and sr highs. I actually had a DA come in and explain to my high school classes that now that they were nearing 18 and the laws were different, she would prosecute their big butts. It was great!

How far we have fallen as a society when 3rd graders (9-10 year olds) have no concept of the sanctity of life. And their intended target a teacher--the person that they probably spend more time with than even their parents.

I cringe when someone comments that something non-academic should be taught in school. How aburd is it when the raising of children has been given up by many parents to some stranger called a teacher. How can a teacher be a parent to these societal orphans. Obviously when discipline is enforced, retribution will be sought. If not from the parents, the students themselves.

Teachers should get hazardous duty pay instead of lousy salaries, pathetic benefits, intervention from groups with agendas that don't involve what is best for students, and lip service support from the administration.

Is there now no doubt as to why teachers burn out and find jobs with less stress?

Esaba[CZ]: It will be very interested to see how far this pregresses.

If is was me, and the school or DA does not take action, I would proceed against both the students and their parents with both civil and criminal actions.

Law and Order Teacher: I agree. If one does an adult crime, one deserves an adult punishment (and I DO NOT CARE about their age).

bag blog: Remember the program "Scared Straight?" I wish they would make that program REQUIRED of all students.

nunoftheabove: I would be willing to bet that their parents are from the same sorry lot at these little turds (please excuse my language). The parents probably acted like this when they were young.
