Libertarians Pick Presidential Candidate

The Libertarian Party has picked former Republican Representative Bob Barr to be its presidential candidate after six rounds of balloting. The party held its convention Denver this past weekend.

Barr beat research scientist Mary Ruwart, who was the party's presidential nominee in 1983 and vice presidential candidate in 1992. Barr left the GOP in 2006 over what he called bloated spending and civil liberties intrusions by the Bush administration.

I watched some of the convention on CSPAN. It was interesting. But when they got to the issue of same-sex marriage, they lost me. Less government does not mean stupid government.

I wish them luck in thei quest. It is a shame they cannot cut into the democratic voters. I know that will never happen. The Libertarian party is for less government and that is the complete opposite of the democrats.

"The difference between libertarianism and socialism is that libertarians will tolerate the existence of a socialist community, but socialists can't tolerate a libertarian community. " – David D. Boaz
